Final presentation report

Last Wednesday morning, we had presentations of different topics with Mr. Hedley. I’m presenting about how Khalid Alkhoori discussed and explained about child obesity all over the world. Obesity itself is a very dangerous term that leads every child to an abnormal life and living with it makes your day harder. Obesity makes life shorter. Fifteen years ago, obesity was a very rare disease, people didn’t notice that sickness. But, as years passed by, this disease is one of the most dangerous and unstoppable sicknesses, especially to children these days. Children, who are obese, are overweight. They can’t move the way a normal one can. Activities are hard for them. There are many foods that are not allowed for them to eat. They have an unhealthy standard of living; they are restricted in many things, from food to activities to medicines. From 1985-1995, a survey stated that 80% of children who were obese, grow up obese. The causes of obesity in children, is their eating habits; foods in this generation are mostly filled with preservatives and chemicals. More calories and cholesterol intake rather than vitamins and minerals that we exactly need in our body. Daily activities must burn those extra fats; we must do at least 3-4 times brisk walking daily within 40 minutes to 1 hour. We must avoid drinking sugary drinks and eating unhealthy oily foods. We should also be strict with the amount of food intake. Eat properly; don’t ever eat while watching TV or in front of any gadget that may distract your eating time that may lead to eating abundantly or not noticing you’ve already eaten but are still hungry. Obesity in children leads to life at very high risk. They would have high blood pressure at a very young age which could result in heart failure, high cholesterol and fats that blocked our nerves in functioning the blood to our body. Obesity could be avoided in many ways. Parents are mainly responsible for their children. They must look and guide their children in many ways. Parents must be educated to have more ideas on how to raise their children from their food intake and their activities daily. Proper communications and advice from parents to children is a must to have a proper relationship, so that children would follow their parents.

Report of Khalid Alkhoori

Last summer Khalid Alkhoori decided to visit the Maldives. He went there for four days. It was not very far from the UAE. From Dubai airport, he travelled for four hours to Maldives, then from Male airport, he travelled 20 minutes to his hotel by small airplane. The hotel was so exotic; the ambience was fresh. There was a private swimming pool which was surrounded by plants and trees; he went there to relax and watch those very nice views. There was also a sport area which he could play golf, tennis, football and other activities. Fifteen minutes from the hotel, he went to a dolphin area by boat; he enjoyed watching those dolphins. On the second day, he visited the fishing area; there were many people enjoying in fishing while others were interested in available chefs who you could request any menu that they would cook for only 10 dollars. Downtown, they have only limited shops. Those shops were for equipment tools for using in the sea like scuba diving, flippers and others. On the third day, he rode on the boat which had a parachute tied on it, that whoever rode on the parachute could fly till 700 meter and could view the whole Maldives. Every island has a special hotel; if you wish to visit those hotels, you must go by boat. It was a very interesting and relaxing visit he had experienced.

Meeting reflection

The ADFCA was assigned by the government to observe and interview schools and universities here in UAE. I, Khalifa Alkhoori, one of the spectators from ADFCA, was chosen to have a meeting with some faculties of Higher Colleges of Technology. The meeting was held in class J12, on 14th March,2013 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. It was participated in by the principal, Mohamed Al Fahim, vice president, Khalid AlKhoori, by the counsellor, Mansoor AlHashimi, and one of the advisors, Mr.Hedley. The meeting was all about the foods which are eaten by the students; which type of food and any problem with it. The principal started the meeting; we discussed what are the available foods in the school. Are they good and fit for the health of the student? Mansoor disagreed with having fast food and so did I. Then I suggested Subway which offers an order to prepare food. Khalid and the principal Mohamed agreed. We talked about those students who indulged in fast food. The principal was eager to discuss with students’ parents. I told them that all food should be monitored by the ADFCA, once in a while, to be sure that those foods should be sufficiently healthy and should have a fair price for the students. The meeting was very interesting in all aspects. Its really is an obligation for ADFCA to monitor schools because youth are aggressive in many things, and food is unexceptional. Guidance of parents and faculty is important, too! This is for the student’s healthiness. The members of the meeting were very cooperative and hopefully our aim for the students’ safe eating habit would proceed and be successful.

Report Assignment 1

Mohamed Abdullah, 17 years old, graduated in AbuDhabi International school, and is in his first year at Abu Dhabi Men’s College. He was interviewed by Mr. Hedley; he wants to work as an accountant. He heard from a friend that this company has a great reputation, good service to the society and sufficient salary to the employees. He also searched by internet about the company. He told them that he could work on time or at any given time or overtime as long as the company needs him. Mohamed Abdullah is smart and said that his goals are to be efficient in his job, to enhance his knowledge about the company and be a part of its successful future. He doesn't have any idea about the salary but he will try to work for it. The important thing is he never heard any negative background about the company and he is very willing to work in the Accounting Department and learn every step on how to motivate and work with others. Mohamed Abdullah told the company that if ever he has a master's degree, he will do all he possibly can for good services in society and to make the company more successful.
The interview was very interesting and I learned how others communicate in a very professional way. Mohamed Abdullah answered honestly all the questions and observed that he is willing to work with the company.
